Laura Linney, best known for her strong but vulnerable characters, is one of the most acclaimed American actors of our times. Her father was a celebrated writer, however she was raised as a single child with a single mother, a nurse. Through the summer months, while with her dad, Linney developed a passion for theatre. She eventually studied acting initially in Brown University then at Juilliard School. The actress began her Broadway career soon after completing her degree, and then made her television debut the following year. Innumerable appearances in movies, television shows and stage shows since. In her long career, she's won many awards, which include the two Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations. In spite of all these nominations and awards, her enthusiasm for theatre remains constant, as she performs as a stage performer and screen.
